Thanks for visiting The Heady Club where I discuss all the things I am passionate about in life.
Over the years I have struggled to find what I have really wanted to do in life. I have lots of hobbies and things I like to do but have never really had a place to discuss them or dig deeper into those passions. The Heady Club is where I can continue to manifest and learn more about them.
Our roots are in the Cannabis Counter Culture Industry. Established in 2016 The Heady Club was a result of many years in the space attending Champs Trades Show, American Glass Expo, & Glass Vegas where we deepened our love for Heady Glass & Culture.
Heady is an adjective that describes something intoxicating, highly exciting, or deeply intellectual. Originating as 1960s slang, it means intensely exciting, cerebral, or-often-referring to mind-altering experiences (such as psychedelic drugs or complex, ambient music)
In cannabis culture, “heady” (often pluralized as “headies”) is a premium badge of honor. It shifts the focus away from basic, commercial consumption and highlights high-end artistry, connoisseurship, and elevated consciousness.
The term manifests across three distinct pillars of the culture:
1. High-Grade Cannabis (“Headies”)
- Premium Quality: Historically used as underground slang to separate rare, top-shelf, artisanally grown flower from standard commercial weed.
- Terpene-Focused: In modern concentrates, “heady” culture prioritizes preservation of taste, aroma, and the full plant profile (like live rosin) over raw, single-molecule THC potency.
- The “Head High”: It describes an intensely creative, cerebral, and thought-provoking psychoactive experience, as opposed to a physically heavy “couch-lock” body high
2. Functional Glass Art (“Heady Glass”)
- Custom Counterculture Art: “Heady glass” refers to custom, hand-blown pipes, rigs, and bubblers created by skilled artisans.
- Pioneered by Icons: The movement traces back to figures like Bob Snodgrass, the “Godfather of Glass,” who traveled with the Grateful Dead and invented fumed, color-changing glass.
- Collectible Status Symbols: Unlike mass-produced clear scientific glass, heady pieces feature intricate, vibrant sculpting (like sandblasting or fuming) and are collected as high-value fine art.
3. The Counterculture Lifestyle
- Community Identity: Rooted heavily in the jam band scene (Grateful Dead, Phish), a “head” or “heady person” is someone deeply embedded in the music, style, and community.
- Ritual over Routine: To be heady is to practice intentional consumption. It involves dialing in specialized equipment—like low-temperature dabs, temperature-control setups, and precision airflow—to perfect the sensory experience.
